Maryland Football WR Ronnie Tyler Charged With Second-Degree Assault

As soon as Maryland football wide receivers Ronnie Tyler and Quintin McCree were suspended indefinitely by coach Randy Edsall, people were wondering what the "team rules" violation may have been. In Tyler's case, it appears the answer is a second-degree assault charge. Via Eric Prisbell of the Washington Post.

The Prince George’s County district court database indicates that Tyler was charged on Thursday with second-degree assault. His trial is scheduled for Nov. 1.

Here is a copy of that case record. A search through the district court database for McCree's name turned up empty. That could mean anything, but it is worth noting.

"The expectation of our program is for our student-athletes to conduct themselves in the proper manner academically, athletically and socially," Edsall said in the release. "Unfortunately, Quintin and Ronnie fell short of these expectations."
