West Virginia Vs. Maryland Score Update: Terps Rally A Bit, Cut Lead To 34-23

It looked like West Virginia might run away with with the game but Maryland scored twice in the third quarter to cut the WVU lead to 34-23. The Mountaineers received the kick to start the second half and marched down the field for a score. The Terps defense looked like they may force a WVU punt, but a crucial facemask penalty gave West Virginia a first down and the touchdown drive was on.

The Terps had two scoring drives of their own later in the quarter, featuring some nifty running by Davin Megget including a 20-yard touchdown run. The running game is gathering steam as DJ Adams punched another touchdown in on the ground. Adams' touchdown came after an impressive interception by Dexter McDougle. MCcougle proved to be in the right place at the right time on the pick as the ball bounced off a WVU player's chest.

Fans in Byrd Stadium momentarily rejoiced on what looked like a WVU fumble on a kickoff that was returned for a touchdown, but the refs whistled the play dead. TV review showed that the fumble was caused by the ground, and proved the refs right.

We'll be following this game in this StoryStream. For more on the Terps, head on over to Testudo Times, and for a view from behind enemy lines, try SB Nation Pittsburgh and The Smoking Musket.
