The Maryland defense got a major scare during the fourth quarter of their 32-24 win over Miami on Monday night when starting linebacker Darin Drakeford went down with an ankle injury. Drakeford laid on the ground for a while and was eventually carted off the field. However, after the game, he indicated the injury wasn't serious.
Drakeford informed reporters that he merely had a sprained ankle and would be ready for Maryland's next game against West Virginia. Via Brendan Darr of 106.7 The Fan:
Darin Drakeford said he just needs some ice and relaxation and should be good for the WVU game. Huge relief for #Terp fans.
Maryland coach Randy Edsall did hint at the possibility of a player having surgery, but it won't be Drakeford. It could be defensive end Isaiah Ross or safety Eric Franklin.
