Maryland basketball received a verbal commitment from four-star point guard Roddy Peters on Tuesday.

Roddy Peters, the 39th-best men's basketball recruit for the Class of 2013 according to Rivals, announced Tuesday his commitment to the Maryland Terrapins, Jeff Ermann of InsideMDSports.com is reporting. Peters, a four-star point guard from District Heights, Md., picked Maryland over the Georgetown Hoyas, Kansas Jayhawks, Memphis Tigers, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Seton Hall Pirates, UCLA Bruins and Xavier Musketeers.

Peters' commitment comes less than a week after he attended Maryland's Midnight Madness at the Comcast Center. He's a solid-rebound get for the Terrapins as they missed out on Aaron and Andrew Harrison, who each chose to attend Kentucky almost two weeks ago. Both were five-star recruits.

Overall, Peters is the second target to verbally commit to Maryland. Power forward Damonte Dodd from Massanutten (Va.) Military Academy has also verbally committed to be a Terrapin and is expected to sign a letter of intent during the early signing period in November.

Last season, Peters averaged 23 points, 5.2 assists and 2.4 steals for Suitland High.
