Hills sustained the injury in Saturday's game against North Carolina State after throwing an interception in the second quarter. The true freshman was carted off the field and was unable to put any weight on the injured leg.
After undergoing an MRI on Monday, it was determined that Hills had torn his ACL and would be unable to return to action this season. This news only further exasperates the quarterback position at Maryland as C.J. Brown tore his ACL during preseason workouts and the team lost Danny O'Brien when he transferred to Wisconsin.
Sophomore Devin Burns took over for Hills during Saturday's game and will likely take over the starters duties from here on out. Maryland will play Boston College on the road next Saturday.
