Boston College Vs. Maryland Recap: Terps Ride Hot Shooting To Cruise To 81-65 Win Over Eagles

The Maryland Terrapins defeated Boston College 81-65 Thursday night at Comcast Center. The Terps were led by ACC scoring-leader Terrell Stoglin, who finished with 24 points. Stoglin was incredible in the first half, hitting five threes, which including a stretch of three in a row on consecutive possessions. He had a quiet second half, scoring only five points but his work in the first half put Maryland ahead for good. The Terps had a comfortable double-digit lead for nearly the entire game but BC did cut it to seven points in the final five minutes of the game.

In addition to Stoglin, both freshman Nick Faust and senior Sean Mosley scored double figures as part of a backcourt trio that dominated the Eagles. Faust added 14 points while Mosley finished with 13. On the interior, James Padgett had a big game for Mark Turgeon, grabbing eight board and chipping in 15 points. As a team, the Terps hit 50 percent from the floor and 50 percent from behind the arc in what was one of their best and most efficient offensive games this conference season.

At 5-6 in the conference, the Terps now travel to Charlottesville to face Virginia on Saturday and look to pull even to .500 in the ACC.

Boston College Vs. Maryland: Terrell Stoglin Catches Fire In First Half, Scores 19 Of Terps 41 Points

After one half at the Comcast Center, the Maryland Terrapins lead Boston College 41-27. It was the Terrell Stoglin show in the first half, as the ACC's leading scorer went on a personal 14-0 run to bring Maryland back from an early deficit and build a double-digit cushion. Stoglin hit three three-pointers on three consecutive possessions after BC could not get out of its own way and turned it over on the other end. Just when it looked like BC might cut the lead back to single digits, Stoglin hit another three-pointer in the final minute of the half to push the lead back to 14 points. He finished the half with 19 points.

As a team, the Terps have hit eight of 13 attempts from behind the arc in what was one of their better offensive halves of the season. Alex Len added two points and grabbed five rebounds off the bench. Maryland will look to keep up the hot-shooting to get back on track in the conference.

Boston College Vs. Maryland: Time, TV Info, And More

It's been a rough year in the ACC for both the Maryland Terrapins and the Boston College Eagles. BC is 3-8 in the ACC and unlikely to make a postseason appearance anywhere, while Maryland is 4-6 in conference and is in need of a serious late run to get themselves into the NCAA discussion.

Maryland have lost six of their last eight games and are coming off of a road loss to Duke. Boston College have not won on the road in the ACC, so the Terps are expected to come away with a win. The Terps' next game is a tough road game against Virginia, so coach Mark Turgeon will have to make sure his team is focused and not looking past BC.

Game Date/Time: Thursday, February 16, 9:00 p.m. ET

TV: My 20 (Washington D.C. local), CBS 38 (Boston local), ACC Network affiliates (Check local listings)
