The sixth-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels proved too much for the frisky Maryland Terrapins in the second half Saturday night, outscoring the Terps 46-34 after halftime on their way to a 83-74 win in College Park.
Behind the inside-outside combination of Alex Len and Terrell Stoglin, the Terrapins went up by nine points early in the second half, but were unable to hang on to the lead against the Tar Heels. Len finished with 12 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots, while Stoglin led all Maryland scorers with 20 points.
Tyler Zeller, despite being in foul trouble for much of the second half, scored 22 points and grabbed seven boards for North Carolina. John Henson chipped in 17 points and 12 boards for Roy Williams' club.
