The University of Maryland might have played the most compelling game on Sunday, but they weren't the only team to advance to the Elite 8. There were three other games played on Sunday, including one that will deliver Maryland's opponent in the next round.
That game was No. 1 seed Notre Dame and No. 5 seed St. Bonaventure, and it wasn't really much of a game at all. The Irish outscored the Bonnies 35-13 in the first half, and it got worse from there. The final score was a pretty alarming 79-35, a margin you don't normally see this late in the tournament. Could be trouble for the Terps in the next round.
The University of Connecticut faced a Penn State squad that had a pretty fair amount of trouble putting the ball in the basket. They shot just 36.1% on their way to a 77-59 loss. The Huskies will face. . .
No. 2 seed Kentucky who bounced No. 11 seed Gonzaga, the highest seed to play on Sunday. The final score, 79-62, was indicative of the seed disparity.
All four regional final match ups feature the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds.
