VIDEO: Ernie Els Gives Moving Speech Following British Open Win

While Ernie Els's win at the 2012 British Open was unexpected, one thing that was not was the classy showing from Els following the win.

When accepting the Claret Jug, he took time to give thanks to former South Africa president Nelson Mandela for his efforts to unite the country, allowing citizens such as Els to accomplish at what they do.

"I've got to thank, obviously, first of all, you know, President Mandela, who's been such a great influence in our country. We have been truly blessed to have a man like President Mandela take us through a very difficult time in our country. And everybody now, we can see the success of the country, now, and it's only because of President Mandela."

You can check out a full video of his acceptance speech HERE.

2012 British Open Purse: Ernie Els Takes Home $1.4 Million Prize

After his improbable rise to the top of the leaderboard, Ernie Els now has a nice chunk of change to go with the Claret Jug.

Although the purse of nearly $8 million is unchanged from last year, Els will still be very happy with the $1.4 million he will take home for winning the tournament.

As for Adam Scott, his collapse down the stretch proved to be very costly, as he receives $800,000 for coming in second, so that horrible finish cost him nearly $600,000.

Tiger Woods and Brandt Snedeker tied for third, so the two of them will split the winnings for third and fourth place, with each of them receiving $375,802.

A full breakdown of the purse distribution can be found HERE.

2012 British Open Results: Ernie Els Wins After Adam Scott Falls Apart

Although Adam Scott held a four stroke lead with just four holes to play, he could not make shots when it mattered most, allowing Ernie Els to capture his second career British Open title.

Scott bogeyed the last four holes of his round, which allowed Els to pick up the win after shooting an impressive round of two-under. Els was one of two golfers in the top-10 to shoot under par, which went a long way to the win.

Tiger Woods finished in a tie for third at three-under par with Brandt Snedeker. Woods struggled all day, posting a score of three-over that included a triple bogey on hole six which knocked him out of contention for the championship.

British Open 2012 Leaderboard: Tiger Woods Stumbles Through Final Round, Adam Scott Still In Control

Sunday is proving to be a very rough day for golfers in the 2012 British Open, as many of the contenders have struggled through the final 18 holes.

Tiger Woods has had some serious troubles, as he has fallen out of contention after posting a round of four-over through 16 holes. His round was sunk with a triple bogey on hole six. He has also bogeyed his last three holes.

Leader Adam Scott still has a firm grasp on the top spot on the leaderboard at nine-under, despite shooting two-over on the day. His only competition for the top spot is Ernie Els, who is three strokes behind with just one hole remaining in his round. Els is the only golfer near the top who is not struggling, shooting one-under on the day.

British Open 2012: A Strong Field Chasing Adam Scott After Three Rounds

Three rounds of the 2012 British Open from Royal Lytham & St. Annes golf course in Lancashire, England are in the books and Australian Adam Scott finds himself in the lead as has been the case since the tournament began on Thursday.

Scott finds himself atop the leaderboard at 11-under par after Saturday's third round. Scott Made just one bogey on the day and three birdies while making par on the remaining 15 holes.

The Aussie finds himself with a four stroke lead over Ireland's Graeme McDowell and American golfer Brandt Snedeker who are both sitting at seven-under par through the first three rounds.

Tiger Woods, the favorite to win The Open, finds himself in the mix as well. He's just five strokes back at six-under par through three rounds after shooting an even par on Saturday.

British Open 2012 Leaderboard Update: Tiger Woods Makes His Move

Through 13 holes in the third round of the 2012 British Open at Royal Lytham & St. Annes golf course, Tiger Woods has taken sole possession of second place as he is currently sitting at seven-under par. After bogeying the first and third holes on Saturday, Woods has managed to connect on three birdies and has made par on the remaining eight holes.

Of course, Woods could have some company in second as three players sit just one stroke behind him at six-under par. And Tiger still has some work to do in order to catch the leader, Adam Scott, who is currently at 12-under par through the first 12 holes he's played in round three.

But with Woods trailing him, Scott has to know that he needs to try and put some more distance between himself and what is arguably still the world's best golfer.

British Open 2012: TV Schedule, How To Watch Online And More

The third round of the 2012 British Open gets underway just after 3 a.m. ET with the field now cut in half. The first two days send a full field off the same tee, leading to some of the longest days on the course during the season. But ESPN provides comprehensive coverage beginning in the middle of the night and staying on the air until the final notable groups end in the afternoon in the States.

The weekend play, however, condenses the field which allows the broadcast to come on the air at the more reasonable time of 7 a.m. ET. ESPN will provide coverage until the final group is off the course, which is scheduled approximately for 2:30 p.m. ET.

A livestream of the action from Royal Lytham will once again be available at ESPN3.com. A stream featuring the play from holes 9 through 11 will go online at 5:30 a.m. ET. Another stream will go online at 7 a.m. ET and feature No. 1 and No. 18 while a third stream at ESPN3 will mirror the coverage on the television broadcast beginning at 7 a.m.
