Lightning Vs. Capitals: Exciting Third Period Awaits As Caps, Bolts Tied At 3-3

Stay connected for news and updates

Things haven't settled down at Verizon Center.

Only two goals were scored, but there were 14 minutes worth of penalties as the Capitals and Lightning are tied at 3-3 after the second period.

Dominic Moore gave the Lightning a 3-2 lead just 56 seconds into the period when a Roman Hamrlik turnover led to Ryan Shannon feeding Moore the puck in the slot for a one-timer. Troy Brouwer tied it when he deflected Jeff Schultz's slap shot from the point past Dwayne Roloson at 3:42 for his first goal of the season and as a Cap.

Marcus Johansson assisted on Brouwer's goal, but right after he passed to Schultz, Ryan Malone caught him up high with a stick to the fce. Johansson stayed down on the ice holding his face while his teammates scored and headed to the locker room, but returned shortly after.

The Caps are 0-5 on the power play and will have 53 seconds to work on their sixth to start the third period while Malone sits in the penalty box.
