Stay connected for news and updates

Via The Washington Times' Stephen Whyno, Tomas Vokoun will start for the Washington Capitals Thursday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Vokoun, who overcame a shaky start en route to winning his regular season Washington debut Monday in a 6-5 shootout victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning, will have a chance to redeem himself Thursday.

Meanwhile, via Mike Vogel, Mathieu Perreault and D.J. King will be the healthy scratches for the Caps Thursday. The Washington Post's Katie Carrera said that the forward lines are the same as they were during Wednesday's practice. With the scratches in mind, Thursday's lineup should look like this:

Ovechkin - Backstrom - Brouwer

Semin - Johansson - Knuble

Chimera - Laich - Ward

Hendricks - Halpern - Beagle
