Mike Green Injury Update: Groin Injury Latest Setback For Capitals' Star Defender

We noted earlier Monday that Mike Green would not be making the Washington Capitals’ upcoming road trip after missing Monday’s practice with an unspecified injury suffered during Washington’s game last Friday night. Head coach Bruce Brudreau said he had hoped Green would be available later in the road trip for games against Winnipeg and or Toronto, but that it made sense for him to stay back in D.C. and tend to his injury for now:

“He’s not making the trip,” Boudreau said. “He’s day-to-day. We’re hoping that he joins us on the trip, but right now, he’s going to stay here and get treatments. It happened Friday. I’m hoping he’s back within the week playing.”

According to Katie Carrera of the Washington Post, Green injured his groin in Friday night’s game against the Devils. Green was recovering from an ankle injury that had shelved him for multiple weeks in October. The good news is his ankle appears to be healed; the bad news is he reportedly will have a tender groin to deal with right after making his return to the ice.
