Alex Ovechkin is a hockey renaissance man. He shoots, he scores, he hits. There was no better example of the third than what he did to P.K. Subban during the third period of Tuesday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Montreal Canadiens.
Ovechkin met Subban at center ice as the latter came charging through the neutral zone. Ovechkin lowered his hip and sent Subban several feet in the air as he spiraled around before falling flat on his face. Subban would retaliate and earn a roughing penalty because of it. Perhaps P.K., which stands for Pernell Karl, can now mean "placekicker" since he went flying through the air like a football.
