Washington Capitals Injuries: Mike Green Hopes To Play Friday

Stay connected for news and updates

Mike Green has been out for over a week now, and will miss tonight's game against the Penguins, but his return seems to be getting closer. We heard earlier today that he would be going through a tough skate this morning, and the results of that skate were apparently good enough for Green to target the end of this week for a return.

After a lengthy bag skate, Mike Green said he's hoping to play Friday against the Rangers. #Capsless than a minute ago via TweetDeck

The Caps have played inconsistently since Green went out with an injury. Looking stout on defense in some games, but looking very spotty in others. For example, the Capitals had two relatively inexperienced defenders on the ice when trying to preserve a 2-1 lead late against the Sabres.

Green's return will only serve to help the Capitals when he gets back on the ice.
