Washington Capitals Injuries: Mike Green To Miss Next Two Games After Elbow To Head

Stay connected for news and updates

Mike Green's injury woes this season continue, as the Capitals' defensemen will miss the team's next two games as he continues to recover from an elbow to the head taken in the team's 6-0 loss to the Rangers on Friday night.

Coach Bruce Boudreau announced the news earlier today, saying Green will not return until the Capitals travel to face the Florida Panthers on Sunday. Via Sky Kerstein of 106.7 The Fan:

#Caps Boudreau says Green won't be back from Calgary for Tuesday and Thursday's game, they expect him back for the Fla trip this weekend

Green suffered the injury when Derek Stapan of the Rangers elbowed him in the head during the first period. Green had previously missed several games with what the team described as "inner ear trauma" after taking a slap shot to the face. The Capitals seem to be worried about his health, which may explain Monday's trade for Florida Panthers defensemen Dennis Wideman.
