Jason Arnott Acquired By Capitals For David Steckel, Draft Pick, According To Report

While it has not been officially announced by the team, the Washington Capitals have possibly brought in the missing link that they need in the waning moments of the NHL Trade Deadline.

The Capitals have acquired center Jason Arnott from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for David Steckel and a second-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Arnott's acquisition was the third move that the Caps have made within the last three days and the second Monday; they claimed veteran winger Marco Sturm off waivers Saturday and received Florida Panthers defenseman Dennis Wideman in exchange for prospect Jake Hauswirth and a 2011 third-round pick.

Arnott automatically becomes the leader in both regular-season and postseason games for the Caps and has a 2000 Stanley Cup with the Devils to boot. The 17-year veteran, who has 13 goals and 11 assists on the season, will surely become the Capitals' second-line center, which has been a problem area for them in recent years.
