VIDEO: Matt Cooke Takes Out Alex Ovechkin's Knee

In the waning moments of the third period of the Caps-Pens game today, Matt Cooke made the decision to check Alex Ovechkin by simply kneeing him in the leg. You decide if that was a dirty or clean hit, here's the video:

↵

Shortly after that hit there was a scrum near mid ice, with Ovechkin looking none too pleased about taking that hit. Now we all know the Caps and Pens don't like eachother, but that looked like a dirty hit.

↵

The hard check highlighted a very physical third period between these two rivals, as David Steckel got into a fight with the Pens Tim Wallace earlier in the period.

↵

The Caps must enjoy these physical third periods with the Pens, as the last two games they have played against each other have featured very hard fought final periods, but ended in wins for the Caps. Their last meeting was, of course, in the Winter Classic on New Years Day.

Here's to more tough, physical nationally televised games that end in a Capitals victory.
