Mike Green Feels 'Alright' After Puck To Face

Stay connected for news and updates

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Despite taking a puck to the face in the first period of Sunday's 3-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, Mike Green says he feels fine.

"I'm alright," Green said. "I got hit in the head obviously with the puck, so it doesn't feel that great."

Green took a slap shot from Brooks Orpik as time expired in the first period and crumbled to the ice. He bled profusely, but skated back to the locker room area under his own power and did not return.

According to Green, he does not believe he has a concussion. Sporting a nasty cut and stitches by his right ear, he said that his balance felt "a little off." Asked how long he would be out, Green didn't seem to be too concerned.

"I feel good," Green said. "It's unfortunate that I couldn't come back, but I'm all stitched up and hopefully can come back next game. We'll see how I feel in the morning and we'll assess it from there."
