NHL Playoffs 2011, Rangers Vs. Capitals Score: Washington, New York Scoreless After One Period

Stay connected for news and updates

The first round of the 2011 NHL Playoffs have begun, and fans of the Eastern Conference No. 1 seed Washington Capitals are as ansty as ever given the zero-zero deadlock with the underdog No. 8 seed New York Rangers 20 minutes into the frist round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Despite outworking the Rangers from the first drop, the Capitals have been unable to capitalize on their offensive possession, and superstar Alex Ovechkin has yet to work himself into the game, managing only two shots on goal in seven minutes of ice time.

Between the pipes, Michal Neuvirth has given Caps fans nothing to whine about, minus that lack of an "e" in his first name. Unfortunately for the Capitals, longtime Capitals nemesis Henrik Lundqvist has of course stopped all nine shots he faced and also plans to build a petting zoo in the second period while stopping nine more shots.
