Capitals Announce First Round Of Cuts Of Training Camp, Cut Five Players

Stay connected for news and updates

Via The Washington Post's Katie Carrera, the Washington Capitals have officially cut five players: forwards Mitch Elliot, Reid Edmondson and Thomas Frazee as well as defensemen Samuel Carrier and Nick Tabisz.

All five players participated in July's Development Camp as well as last week's Rookie Camp. The Caps returned Carrier and Elliot to their respective junior teams in Lewiston (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) and Seattle (Western Hockey League), while Edmondson, Frazee and Tabisz were released.

With Washington's first preseason game Tuesday against the Nashville Predators and the Hershey Bears' training camp beginning September 25, there should be several more cuts between now and then.
