Washington Capitals Training Camp: Chris Bourque, Sean Collins, Patrick McNeill Reassigned To AHL Hershey

Stay connected for news and updates

Via Mike Vogel, the Washington Capitals have continued their training camp roster cuts Thursday as forward Chris Bourque and defensemen Sean Collins and Patrick McNeill have been reassigned to AHL Hershey pending waivers.

Bourque's three point performance in Monday's 3-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets did not prove to be enough as his proverbial bubble burst Thursday. Meanwhile, Collins, who spent the end of the regular season and postseason with the Caps, will return to Hershey. Collins' demotion could be good news for prospect Dmitry Orlov, who has impressed throughout the summer and could be the Caps' seventh defensemen if John Erskine is not ready to start the season. McNeill's demotion was more or less a formality.

With less than a week left before rosters must be set, five "bubble" forwards remain for up to three spots: Mathieu Perreault, Jay Beagle, D.J. King, Cody Eakin and Mattias Sjogren. The Caps have two preseason games left.
