Capitals Vs. Jets: All Square After One Period

Stay connected for news and updates

A goal from Brooks Laich canceled out an earlier tally by Andrew Ladd as the Washington Capitals and Winnipeg Jets were tied 1-1 after 20 minutes at MTS Center in Winnipeg.

The Jets took a 1-0 lead after Ladd's initial shot was deflected right back to his feet by Mathieu Perreault. Given a second chance with the backhand shot, Ladd made no mistake, beating Tomas Vokoun at the 11:08 mark of the first period.

The Capitals responded just 22 seconds later when Marcus Johansson's point shot was deflected past Ondrej Pavelec by Laich for his 15th goal of the season.

Vokoun stopped seven of eight shots faced in the first period while Pavelec saved five of six.
