Capitals Vs. Bruins: Washington, Boston Scoreless After Two Periods

The Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins remain scoreless after a second period that was mostly free of incident at the TD Garden in Boston.

The Capitals earned the only power play of the middle stanza when David Krejci was sent to the penalty box at the 11:08 mark, but Washington couldn't manage any shots on the ensuing man advantage.

Boston is outshooting Washington 15-9 after 40 minutes and has 12 scoring chances to Washington's 6, while winning 22 of the evening's 36 face-offs and out-hitting the Caps 18-10.

The Bruins will clinch a playoff spot with either a win or overtime loss, while a win will temporarily pull Washington into a tie with the Buffalo Sabres for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Buffalo plays Pittsburgh Friday night.
