Capitals Vs. Bruins, 2012 NHL Playoffs Game 4: Capitals, Bruins Tied 1-1 After 20 Minutes

Marcus Johanssson scored just 1:22 into the first period, but Rich Peverley equalized as the Capitals and Boston Bruins are tied, 1-1 at the first intermission of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

Johnasson's goal came about due to some sloppy Bruins defense. A bad pinch at the right point by Andrew Ference and a giveaway by Zdeno Chara led to a 2-on-1 break with Johansson alongside Brooks Laich. At the last possible second, Laich found Johansson with a cross-ice pass and Johansson's shot found the back of Tim Thomas' net.

The rest of the period, however, belonged to the Bruins, who recorded 14 shots on goal to Washington's 3, and their pressure told with 6:48 to go in the period. An Alex Ovechkin turnover and a bad pinch by Dennis Wideman led to a 3-on-1 rush for Boston, which was converted by Rich Peverley with a shot through the five-hole of Braden Holtby.
