Rangers Vs. Capitals, 2012 NHL Playoffs Game 1: Washington Scores With Seconds Left In Period, Game Tied 1-1 Entering Third

The Washington Capitals scored with just four seconds left in the second period of the opening game of their 2012 NHL Playoffs second round playoff series with the New York Rangers, sending the game to the third period tied 1-1.

Jason Chimera, on a beautiful assist from Brooks Laich, beat New York goalie Henrik Lundqvist at the 19:54 mark to even the score, helping Washington salvage a period that saw them fail to convert on a 5-on-3 power play.

The Rangers Artem Anisimov scored at the 12:38 mark of the period, assisted by Ruslan Fedotenko and Ryan McDonagh.

The two teams have combined for only 21 shots in the game, with Washington Braden Holtby stopping seven of the eight Boston shots he has faced.
