C.J. Wilson Rumors: Washington Nationals Deny Offering Six-Year Contract, According To Report

The MLB rumor mill went ablaze after a previous report suggesting that the Washington Nationals offered Texas Rangers' left-handed pitcher C.J. Wilson a six-year contract. However, it looks like that rumor is not true. Three Washington Nationals sources have denied the report to Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post, and Jim Bowden reports that general manager Mike Rizzo himself has denied interest.

The Nationals would have had to pay a premium for Wilson, who is arguably the top free-agent pitcher on the market. He finished 16-7 last season and was the ace of the Rangers' staff, but is also 30 years old and struggled in the postseason. The Nationals want another top-line starter and have also pursued Mark Buehrle, who could come cheaper than Wilson.

We'll be covering the Winter Meetings and all of the Nationals potential dealings this week in this StoryStream. For more on the Nationals, check out Federal Baseball.
