MLB Free Agency: Washington Nationals Meet With Mark Buehrle, Mike Rizzo Confirms

With C.J. Wilson talk on the backburner (if it ever actually existed), the Washington Nationals continue to hone in on Chicago White Sox free agent Mark Buehrle, according to the latest MLB rumors. General manager Mike Rizzo confirmed the Nationals met with Buehrle and said he felt he made a "connection" with him. Via Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post:

"There was a connection there," Rizzo said. "I went in there and really gave him a presentation of what we’re all about, what we’re trying to do now, what we’re trying to do in the future, what part does he play in it. How his family would be impacted, how we take care of players’ wives, security. All those factors came into it. It was a well-rounded presentation to show all the facets."

Buehrle has narrowed his choice down to five teams, and the Nationals are one of them. He is seeking a four-year contract, according to Bill Ladson of MLB.com. The 32-year old was 13-9 with a 3.59 ERA for the White Sox last season.

We'll be covering the Winter Meetings and all of the Nationals potential dealings this week in this StoryStream. For more on the Nationals, check out Federal Baseball.
