Just when you thought Wednesday's game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals was going to actually happen, it has been postponed again. General manager Mike Rizzo just said that the game will not end up happening. Via Gene Wang of the Washington Post.
Rizzo just said game cancelled #Nats
This comes just minutes after the Nationals announced that the gates to the stadium were opened. Earlier in the day, the Dodgers announced that the game was postponed, but Major League Baseball reportedly stepped in and asked the teams to try to get it in.
In the end, though, the heavy rains in the D.C. area appear to be enough for the game to not take place. The game will be made up in a doubleheader on Thursday.

Wednesday's game between the Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Dodgers is now back on after initially being postponed. Early Wednesday afternoon, the Dodgers announced the game was postponed due to rain. However, the Nationals never confirmed this and just sent out a notice that the game will indeed be played as scheduled.

Why the confusion? According to Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post, MLB stepped in and asked the two teams to try to play.
The Nationals and Dodgers agreed earlier today to postpone tonight's game and play a doubleheader involved, and the Dodgers, on their official Twitter feed, announced that as the plan.
But MLB stepped in and told the teams to wait and try to play the game. The league did not want possible rain tomorrow to prevent the teams from playing, because the Dodgers will not have a chance to make the game up.
Neither team is in a pennant race, so I'm not sure why there was such urgency, but there you go.

As it turns out, Wednesday's game between the Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Dodgers is still on, at least for now. While the Dodgers sent out an official notice on their Twitter account, the Nationals have refused to say the game is canceled. Soon thereafter, Dodgers players apparently arrived at Nationals Park, presumably to play a game.
Confusion clearly reigns at Nationals Park. The Dodgers' Twitter account listed the makeup time for Thursday's doubleheader, but has gone silent in the past hour and a half. The Nationals, meanwhile, sent out this message around that time.
We're monitoring weather closely ahead of tonight's Nats-Dodgers game. Updates to come here and at nationals.com.
We will have to wait and see what transpires. The weather forecast calls for even more rain.
