Cardinals lefty Jaime Garcia was taken off the 2012 postseason roster after experiencing shoulder soreness during his Game 2 start against the Nationals.
Cardinals NLDS Game 2 starter Jaime Garcia will be removed from the St. Louis playoff roster prior to Game 3 in Washington, according to Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The lefty started Game 2 but departed after just two innings of work due to shoulder soreness. He walked three and gave up an earned run before leaving the game. Garcia was sent for an MRI on Monday evening after being pulled from the game.
Garcia missed most of the summer with a shoulder injury, as the Cards shut him down at the end of May. He pitched extremely well to start the season for St. Louis, but things quickly fell apart and the team opted to shut him down. He was on the shelf with shoulder problems until Aug. 19, but finished the season strong in the month of September. It appears, however, that his 2012 postseason is over after just two innings of work.
