Contract negotiations between the Washington Nationals and first baseman Adam LaRoche are reportedly "going slowly," according to a report by MLB.com's Bill Ladson.

LaRoche won both the National League Gold Glove and Silver Slugger at first base this season while batting .271, hitting 33 home runs and driving in 100 runs. After the most productive season of his career, LaRoche is reportedly looking for at least a three-year deal.

According to Ladson's report, LaRoche's "top priority" is to re-sign with the Nationals, but that he has spoken with other teams.

LaRoche has already declined Washington's $13.3 million qualifying offer to test the free-agent market. The first baseman has spent the last two seasons in the nation's capital; his 2011 season was derailed by injuries that allowed him to only play in 43 games, hitting .172 before bouncing back with career numbers in 2012.

An eight-year veteran of the big leagues, LaRoche has played for six different clubs. He is a lifetime .268 hitter, averaging 76 RBI and almost 22 home runs per season.
