The Washington Nationals and star third baseman Ryan Zimmerman continue to work towards a new contract that will keep Zimmerman in D.C. for several years, but with no agreement in place, Zimmerman is looking for an immediate resolution. The Nationals' star said Wednesday that he does not want negotiations to stretch past Saturday, which is the first day of the 2012 Spring Training schedule.

Zimmerman's current deal does not expire until 2013, but there is some urgency to get a new contract done because he has said he will test free agency if he does not get a new deal prior to the 2013 season. His agent was present in Viera on Wednesday, but he told Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post that this visit was merely standard operating procedure.
