Ryan Zimmerman Contract Extension: Nationals Third Baseman Receives Six Year Deal, According To Report

Stay connected for news and updates

Early Sunday morning, it was reported the Washington Nationals and star third baseman Ryan Zimmerman had agreed on a contract extension. Now comes word of the details on that extension. Via ESPN's Buster Olney:

Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post points out Zimmerman becomes just the sixth Major League Baseball player signed through the 2019 season, joining other stalwarts such as Matt Kemp, Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun, Troy Tulowitzki and Albert Pujols. Even more importantly for Nationals fans, it shows an ability by the Washington front office to get a deal done that sets a solid foundation for an organization whose future is already bright.
