A recent MRI revealed that first baseman LaRoche has a cartilage sprain and bone bruise in his left foot, while left fielder Morse has a strained right lat muscle. Morse can swing a bat, but currently is not allowed to thrwo the baseball.
As insurance for possible slow returns from these injuries to LaRoche and Morse, the Nationals signed veteran Xavier Nady on Sunday to a minor-league deal.
