Brad Lidge Injury: Washington Closer Expected To Return In One Month

Stay connected for news and updates

Washington Nations closer Brad Lidge underwent surgery on Tuesday morning to repair a sports hernia, which reportedly went "very well." When he returns, though, is the next question. Nats manager Davey Johnson appears optimistic that such a date will be sooner rather than later, telling CSNWashington.com writer Mark Zuckerman that Lidge should be back in the bullpen in about one month.

Davey: Lidge expected back in 1 month following surgery today for sports hernia.

Lidge last appeared this season in an April 21 game against the Miami Marlins, where he gave up two runs and three walks over the span of one inning. On the season, he has struggled a bit more than usual, posting an ERA of 5.14.
