The Washington Nationals open a two game series against the San Diego Padres. Ross Detwiler takes the hill for the Nationals against Tim Stauffer of the Padres, making his first start of the 2012 season.
Pitcher Ross Detwiler takes the hill for his seventh start this season currently with a 3-2 record with a 2.10 ERA. Detwiler has also thrown 25 strike outs and walked only nine batters in 34 and a third innings pitched. His last start was May 9 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He pitched six innings allowing three runs on seven hits with four strike outs in a 4-2 loss.
The Padres will counter with pitcher Tim Stauffer, making his first start of the 2012 season. In 2011, Stauffer went 9-12 in 31 starts. He also pitched a career high 128 strike outs in 185 and two-thirds innings.
The Nationals hope to rebound from their 9-6 loss against the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. The Nationals had a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth, when Reds outfielder Joey Votto hit a walk-off grand slam off of closer Henry Rodriguez.
The game is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch with television coverage on MASN 2 with radio coverage on 106.7 The Fan FM, 1500 WFED AM and 1580 WFHS AM.
