The Washington Nationals announced their lineup for a Memorial Day game in Miami against the Marlins. Monday's lineup looks very much like the standard lineup for Washington. The most notable change is the second start for backup catcher Carlos Maldonado.
Maldonado was called up from Triple-A Syracuse on May 15 as a replacement for Sandy Leon, who is on the 60-day disabled list with a high ankle sprain. Leon suffered the injury just four innings into his major league debut. Leon had to be carried off the field after a collision at home plate with Chase Headley of the Padres.
Maldonado has yet to record a hit this season in just five major league plate appearances. He was batting .211/.273/.380 in 21 games with Syracuse.
