Stay connected for news and updates

The Washington Nationals lead the Philadelphia Philles by a score of 4-1 through 5 innings.

Philadelphia scored on a Carlos Ruiz sacrifice fly to right field that brought in Shane Victorino in the top of the fourth inning. The Phliies have three hits in the ball game so far.

Washington hadn't had much luck at the plate until the bottom of the fifth inning when Jayson Werth belted a three run blast that scored Gio Gonzalez and Steve Lombardozzi and gave the Nats the lead. Rick Ankiel then hit a double to right field that scored Chad Tracy but Danny Espinosa was called out at home plate trying to score on Ankiel's double as well.
