Nationals Vs. Orioles: Ryan Zimmerman Received Cortisone Shot Prior To Sunday's Game

The Washington Nationals lost the series finale of their weekend interleague set with the Baltimore Orioles 2-1 Sunday on an eighth inning home run by Matt Wieters, but despite the loss Washington fans might have been pleasantly surprised with Ryan Zimmerman's performance at the plate, given the third baseman's ongoing struggles since returning from the disabled list. To most observers it seems Zimmerman's shoulder is still not quite right, but it appears a pregame cortisone shot goes a long way towards making the Nats third bagger regain some of his old skills.

Via Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post:

Zimmerman was two for four in Sunday's game, driving in the team's only run. The team is preparing Mark DeRosa to play some third base when DeRosa returns from a minor league rehab stint.
