Nationals Vs. Marlins: Stephen Strasburg Shelled; Miami Leads 5-0 After 3

Mired in a four-game losing streak, the Washington Nationals turned to Stephen Strasburg on Tuesday night to stop the skid and slow down the Miami Marlins. Instead, Strasburg has started off against the Marlins with less than his best, giving up five earned runs in three innings.

The Marlins got off to a quick start against Strasburg, scoring two against the righty in the first inning, on the power of a solo homer from Justin Ruggiano and a RBI single from Giancarlo Stanton. After a scoreless second frame, the third inning was more of the same for Strasburg, who gave up three more — highlighted by a two-run RBI single from Greg Dobbs.

The Nationals, for their part, have not provided Strasburg with any run support, unable to score any runs against Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco.

For the season, Strasburg has eclipsed the 140-inning mark as the end of August approaches.
