Washington Nationals reliever will miss the rest of the Cubs series with elbow inflammation.

Washington Nationals relief pitcher Sean Burnett's elbow is not 100 percent and as a result he will not be available to come out of the bullpen on Wednesday night against the Chicago Cubs. The Nationals have decided to hold Burnett out of the bullpen until at least Sept. 7.

Burnett last pitched Sept. 2 against the St. Louis Cardinals when he let up a game-tying home run for his his second consecutive blown save. Burnett has been dealing with elbow inflammation on and off this season, but still has managed to post a 2.49 ERA in 61 appearances this season. Recently he has struggled however, giving up five runs over his last six innings.

The Nationals are not planning an MRI for Burnett and are currently just prescribing anti-inflammatory medication and rest.
