The Seattle Seahawks' 16-6 victory over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday Night Football provided some good news for the Washington Redskins. Thanks to Seattle's win, the Redskins will pick 10th in the 2011 NFL Draft, not 11th as originally anticipated.

The Redskins are one of seven teams that finished with a 6-10 record in 2010. Draft order is determined by strength of schedule, with the lowest one getting the higher pick in the NFL Draft. Had the Rams defeated the Seahawks, Seattle would have been the eighth 6-10 team, and they had a lower strength of schedule than the Redskins. However, because they won, the Seahawks will pick 21st, because they have made the playoffs and have a better record than the 6-10 teams.

The seven teams that finished 6-10 are the Redskins, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys. Of those seven teams, the Redskins have the fourth-most difficult schedule, with their opponents combining for 132 wins. Six teams finished with a record worse than 6-10, meaning the Redskins will have the 11th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
