Eagles Vs. Redskins Injury Update: Kory Lichtensteiger Has Torn ACL, MCL, Out For Year

Stay connected for news and updates

Washington Examiner reporter John Keim tweeted Sunday afternoon that Redskins center Kory Lichtensteiger suffered a torn ACL and MCL in the first half against the Eagles. The injury happened in the first quarter on Rex Grossman’s first interception of the day. It’s a big blow to the Skins as Lichtensteiger’s 2011-12 season is surely over.

Via John Keim:

Hearing that Kory Lichtensteiger tore his ACL, MCL. done for season. damn shame.

Shame, indeed. Lichtensteiger has been a leader at the center of the Skins offensive line, which has certainly been a work in progress in Mike Shanahan’s first two seasons in Washington. It’s a huge loss for a Redskins’ offensive line that also saw Trent Williams leave Sunday’s game with an injury.

Lichtensteiger’s immediate replacement was Erik Cook. Cook was a 7th round draft pick in 2010 out of New Mexico. He will finish the game against the Eagles at center, and it looks like he will be seeing a lot more action in this 2011 NFL season.
