The John Beck Era officially begins for the Washington Redskins as they travel to Charlotte to face Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers.
It's official: the John Beck Era will begin for Washington Sunday afternoon when the 3-2 Redskins travel to Charlotte, NC to take on the 1-5 Carolina Panthers. Beck replaces walking turnover machine Rex Grossman, and will be making just his fifth career start (and first in four years). In addition to the change at the quarterback position, Washington will be playing with a banged up offense line after losing starters Kory Lichtensteiger and Trent Williams last week to injury. Carolina rookie quarterback Cam Newton has shown tremendous promise so far this season, but it mistake-prone, as his nine interceptions in six games shows. Jim Haslett and the Redskins defense must take advantage of Newton's miscues if Washington hopes to right the ship after last week's disappointing 20-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
