The Washington Redskins may have many injuries of their own, but at least they will face an opponent on Sunday that is also dealing with injury woes. The Buffalo Bills will have to play without linebacker Shawne Merriman, who was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with an Achilles injury. Bills general manager Buddy Nix released the following statement.
Shawne has worked extremely hard, but unfortunately, his Achilles flared back up and it doesn't appear that he will be able to return to the field anytime soon. So we felt it was in the best interest of our team and for Shawne to put him on IR."
Merriman has been in and out of the lineup for the Bills all season, so this does not come as a huge surprise. He wasn't bad when he was in, but he was a far cry from the Pro Bowl player he was in San Diego earlier in his career.
