Albert Haynesworth Claimed By Tampa Bay Buccaneers On Waivers, According To Report

It took less than 24 hours for former Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to find a new team after he was released by the New England Patriots. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have claimed Haynesworth off waivers, according to a report by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Buccaneers have probably zeroed in on Haynesworth due to the season-ending injury to starting defensive tackle Gerald McCoy. The Patriots will be on the hook for the rest of his salary, according to Albert Breer of NFL Network.

Haynesworth was signed by the Washington Redskins in 2009, ironically spurning the Buccaneers at the time. He put in two years of disgruntled play before being dealt to the Patriots over the summer for a fifth-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. The Patriots released Haynesworth after he was ineffective for them, gave poor effort and got into an argument with his position coach on the sidelines.
