The Minnesota Vikings apparently don't need Christian Ponder and Adrian Peterson that badly. On the Vikings' first drive since both were knocked out of the game due to injury, their replacements combined to create a scoring drive. Toby Gerhart ripped off a 67-yard run to get the ball inside the Redskins' 10-yard line, and Joe Webb ran it in on an option play two plays later to give Minnesota a 17-13 lead.
Gerhart broke the ball outside on his run and outran the Redskins' linebackers, only being caught when cornerback Josh Wilson punched the ball out of bounds.
Two plays later, Webb looked like he'd pitch it outside, but instead kept it inside and ran between the tackles for the score.
