2011 NFL Mock Draft: Washington Redskins' Biggest Need Is Quarterback, Says Todd McShay

ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay gave a conference call with Redskins reporters to discuss his most recent NFL mock draft and what the Redskins should do come April. In that most recent mock, written on February 10, McShay has the team taking Cam Newton. In the call with reporters, McShay said that quarterback is the Redskins' biggest need, but only Newton and Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert are worth selecting with the No. 10 pick.

Via John Keim of the Washington Examiner:

"Gabbert is more polished," McShay said on a conference call. "Cam has rare overall physical tools and a lot of upside. There's also a boom or bust potential with him. Both could fit their system and if either player is there they will probably take a quarterback.... They're very different players and both will need time to transition."

However, McShay said that both players could be picked before the Redskins, and none of the other prospects are worth taking that high. He did have good things to say about TCU's Andy Dalton, Florida State's Christian Ponder and Nevada's Colin Kaepernick, but only if they are taken in the third round or so. Of course, the Redskins do not have a third-round pick.
