Washington Redskins Are Fourth-Most Valuable Sports Franchise In World, According To Report

Forbes Magazine came out with its list of the most valuable sports franchises in the world, and the Washington Redskins are number four on their list, behind Manchester United of the British Premiere League, the rival Dallas Cowboys and Major League Baseball's New York Yankees.

The Skins are valued at a cool $1.55 billion and, according to the list, "have been the NFL's most profitable team of the last decade with an average operating income of $76 million."

Rounding out the rest of the top ten are Real Madrid of La Liga in Spain, the New England Patriots, the Arsenal of the British Premeire League, the New York Giants, the Houston Texans and the New York Jets.

If you're keeping track at home, that's six NFL teams, three European soccer clubs, one baseball team and three New York City franchises in the top ten.

I sure hope the NFL figures out a way to share its ridiculous profits before a lockout ruins the 2011 season and knocks some of its franchises out of the top 10.
