NFL Free Agency Rumors: Donovan McNabb Trade To Vikings Not Close, According To Report

Earlier Tuesday, multiple reports indicated the Washington Redskins were discussing a deal with the Minnesota Vikings to trade them Donovan McNabb. One report suggested the parameters of the deal were in place, pending McNabb restructuring his contract. However, the latest NFL free agency rumors suggest any talk of a deal being close is premature.

Via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk:

A source with knowledge of the discussions tells us that, while a trade may indeed happen, the report of a deal being in place between the Vikings and Redskins is premature.  Per the source, no agreement has been reached on the compensation the Redskins would receive.

Getting McNabb to agree to take a pay cut after the Redskins gave him a contract extension last season also appears to be a lingering issue. Florio also notes that the Vikings may not be the best fit with first-round pick Christian Ponder also in the fold.

It appears we can slow down a bit on this one for now. It may happen, but a lot has to be solved before it does.
