Donovan McNabb Trade To Vikings Complete, To Be Announced Thursday, According To Report

At long last, it appears the Donovan McNabb trade has been completed. The Minnesota Vikings and Washington Redskins had several issues to work through to before the deal could be made official, but they have worked through them and the deal will be announced on Thursday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The reported parameters of the trade previously had the Redskins receiving a 2012 sixth-round draft pick and a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. The deal was also held up because McNabb needed to agree to restructure his contract after signing an extension with the Redskins last year. Finally, the awkward nature of the deal itself was reportedly unsettling to McNabb, and that needed to be resolved.

In the end, all that has happened, and McNabb will move on to Minnesota, where he will start and mentor first-round pick Christian Ponder. The Redskins can move on from the disastrous trade made last spring, though they have paid a heavy price.

Donovan McNabb Trade To Minnesota Vikings Likely To Be Complete Wednesday, According To Report

It looks like the Donovan McNabb trade to the Minnesota Vikings will be completed on Wednesday, pending some final details being worked out. The trade, which would net the Washington Redskins a sixth-round pick in 2012 and a conditional sixth-round pick in 2013, is agreed upon, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter on SportsCenter.

As of Tuesday night, the reported hold-up was that McNabb needed to restructure his contract. However, Schefter said on the radio that "finances aren't a problem" with the deal. The issue now is that McNabb, who was not happy in Washington, is concerned about the way he will be ushered in to the Vikings next season. Schefter compared the situation to the NFL labor deal, which took a little extra time to solve because of the manner in which the owners handed the new deal to the players.

The Redskins and McNabb have yet to confirm that the trade has been completed. Stay tuned.
